Welcome to the Home Business Academy review for 2025.
If you are here chances are someone introduced you to the Home Business Academy. But before you jump in you want to know if this program is worth it or not.
If this is the case, you are in a good place.
Today we will take a look at the HBA in order to find out:
But before we get into the HBA review, I want you to know I am not affiliated with the HBA product nor the owner to write a positive review.
I just share my honest point of view about the program to help everyone make an informed decision.
That being clear, let’s move on with my Home Business Academy review to find out how it stands.

Review Summary
The Home Business Academy is an online education platform that teaches people how to make money online by promoting other people’s products for a commission. The problem with the HBA training platform is that they tend to push people to stay and promote their products instead of building a real business. And they do that by offering juicy affiliate commissions (up to 80%). For example, the membership costs $125 monthly. So you make $100 per referral but you have to maintain your membership active to qualify for a commission. Anyway, it is a legit platform, and if you can afford the monthly hefty price and then convince other people to join and stay active that can be a great income source for you. What is the Home Business Academy about?
The Home Business Academy aka HBA is an online educational platform that teaches people how to make money online with affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing basically is about promoting other people’s products for a commission. This is a legit business model many people including myself rely on to make money online.
But the downside here is that the HBA owners’ focus is to teach you how to make money by referring other people to their own platform. It is not a crime. But a program that emphasizes promoting itself over teaching members how to build a solid online business, is focusing more on recruitment rather than providing valuable skills and knowledge.
Another downside of the Home Business Academy program is that you need to maintain your membership active which requires a $125 monthly fee to qualify for a commission.
While asking people to recommend your products is not a crime, excessively encouraging members to promote the program itself rather than teaching them how to build a solid online business is focusing more on recruitment rather than providing valuable skills and knowledge.
Plus, tying commission to active membership cannot be called an affiliate program as they claim it is – an affiliate program is free to join.
This looks like a pyramid scheme in my opinion.
How much does the Home Business Academy cost?
I have reviewed many MMO opportunities and online courses.
I tagged some overpriced but the Home Business Academy is the top overpriced course I have seen so far.
In fact, the Home Business Academy costs $125 per month with some upsell that can go up to $1000.
I have seen people claiming that with HBA training you can make money faster.
And yes that might be right get for a reason: Not only the HBA course is overpriced but they also offer up to 80% commissions.
And the maths don’t lie: refer 2 people and earn $200 monthly. Refer 10 people and then earn $1000 monthly.
You see you can meet your financial goals with this program.
But the truth is most people lose money than they make because only one reason can keep people active: when they have 2 or more active referrals.
Building a profitable and long-term online business takes time and it is not a get-rich-quick scheme.
So it will take time it will to yield results.
Another selling point for those people is that you just need only two (2) members to get your monthly expenses covered. That is true.
But how long it will take for a full beginner to get 2 premium referrals that will be willing to pay their ongoing hefty membership fee?
Whatever the strategy you will use to get leads, it will cost you time or money.
Time means you will start building a website like mine and then try to rank it. It will take you at least 4 to 6 months to be realistic to start getting traffic from search engines like Google (depending on the competition level). 6x$125 equals $750 without your website start-up cost.
How much will you pay if it takes longer than that?
same goes with Facebook or YouTube. It is not in a matter of a month you will build a trusted audience.
If you will take the route of buying traffic from solo ads networks like Udimi or rely on paid ads on Facebook, Google, or Bing, you will need to add hundreds of dollars in advertising budget to your ongoing membership fee.
And don’t forget! You will keep paying your ongoing $125 per month fee.
Either your choice to promote this product, making sales won’t come overnight. There are several training courses and when we weigh the pros and cons, going with even a one-time $997 course will save you too much money in the long run.

What is inside the Home Business Academy?
The HBA offers training courses and tools as I pointed it out earlier.
But this Home Business Academy review is about the training they offer and there are a few courses in the program.
The Freedom Launchpad
The Freedom Launch is just a simple video walkthrough on how to make money with affiliate marketing and it was initially been created by Nick Bramble. The course basically was designed to funnel students into the HBA builder.
In case you don’t know it, the Freedom Launchpad was a part of the 30-Minute Workday.
Inside the 30-Minute Workday membership, what you will find is just a bundle of the HBA products they sell for $67 per month at the time of this writing (as of this writing).
It seems the Home Business Academy founders have teamed up with Nick to help them acquire more clients in exchange for something obviously.
Affiliate marketing basically is about selling other people’s products for a commission. And here they teach you how to use their tools suite to build your affiliate marketing business.
No problem on that. But, encouraging people to recruit other people on the program to earn commissions seems like a pyramid scheme.
The Cost of this course is only a $27 one-time fee.
The Ultimate Email & Traffic Swipe File
This is another training course designed to teach you how to grow your business.
Here you will be learning how to spy on your competitors and steal their keywords and traffic.
It comes with a “done-for-you” email swipes you can use.
The cost of this training is a $37 one-time fee.
Note that it was designed for people who have the intention of using paid ads to run their businesses.
HBA Premium (Traffic & Conversions Academy)
The HBA Premium is a complete training course where you will learn:
- How to generate traffic and leads online using various traffic sources such as Facebook, Youtube, blogging, and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) where you will be learning how to create your own website, write SEO-friendly content, create and rank Youtube videos,
- How to design high-converting funnels and landing pages,
- How to attract your customers and convert them into buyers through email marketing
On top of the core training course, you get access to a weekly coaching mastermind with the HBA founders, Paul Hutchings & Mike Hobbs as well as community support from the top leaders (their promise).
The cost to join the HBA premium is $125 per month.
But the good news is that they offer a $1 7-day trial. Meaning that you can get access to the whole training for just $1.
The HBA Funnel builder
I have even dedicated a full review on one of the products they offer called the FBA Funnel Builder you can find here.
By the way, the HBA Funnel Builder, as its name suggests, is a sales funnel builder tool you can use to build:
They also offer a membership site builder tool you can use to build membership sites to sell memberships such as coaching, online courses, etc.
But honestly, the membership builder comes with some missing features if your goal is to sell products like online courses.
In fact, the builder doesn’t offer quizzes which is a great way to motivate and engage your students. Plus students cannot mark the lessons or modules as completed when they do.
This tool alone costs $25 per month and they claim it is the most affordable one in the industry.
That is before the Launch of Systeme.io though. Because what you get with Systeme.io’s free membership is worth more than what they sell for $25 per month. Not to say it is better, as they offer features their builder doesn’t have.
You can read my FBA Funnel Builder review to learn more about his tool.
The Financial Literacy Academy
This is finance and dept training that covers the following:
- Debt elimination,
- Tax strategies for US Business owners,
- Retirement planning and strategies,
- Records and bookkeeping with Quickbooks online,
- How to build long-term cash flow with rental properties,
- Stress-free property management,
- Asset 101,
- Business entity setup and maintenance, and more.
The cost of this program is a $1000 one-time fee.

The Home Business Academy affiliate program
In this section of my Home Business Academy review, I want to take a close look at the HBA affiliate program.
First off, the Home Business Academy is a pay to play business model.
If you want to join the Home Business Academy affiliate program you have to be a paid member. And to don’t lose your Commissions, you have to keep your membership active (pay the $125 monthly fee).
As for the commission rate they pay up to 80%. So if you bring someone to the program and they pay the $125 monthly fee, you I’ll earn $100 on that person.
Most people join because of the juicy commissions offered. Or because they have seen someone making $5,000 or $10, 000 with the program.
What they don’t know is the amount of money they spend on a monthly basis and their advertising fee.
If you think everyone will be jumping on this program because of the huge commissions think again.
Anyway, you can try it and see how goes for you if you can afford the monthly for a couple of months.
I give my opinion. The choice is yours.
Is The Home Business Academy a scam?
No, The Home Business Academy is definitely a scam. This is a platform designed to help people like you make money from home.
Here are the reasons:
They offer training courses and tools you can use to build your own online business.
The owners’ Paul and Mike are real and successful online entrepreneurs themselves.
So I don’t see anything from this platform as a scam sign. No hype, no fake claims.
However, the way they market the program makes it look like a pyramid scheme.
When you join the program you are encouraged to promote the program itself rather than building a business that will give you a complete freedom. Freedom to promote any products or programs you want, have control over your business.
Now, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of this program in the next section of my Home Business Academy review.
The Home Business Academy pros and cons
The FBA Pros
The HBA cons
Should you join the Home Business Academy?
Joining the HBA is up to you.
If you have read my Home Business Academy review till to this point I think you should have a better understanding of how the program works and what is involved.
This program is about affiliate marketing. But they emphasize on promoting the HBA program itself.
So if your goal is to build an affiliate marketing business around the HBA products line, then go for it.
But if your goal is to build an affiliate marketing business with the freedom to promote any program you wish then look elsewhere.
The Home Business Academy alternative
- If you are looking for a cheaper alternative,
- If you are looking for a mature company that delivers results,
- If you are looking for an all-in-one platform that not only educates but offers the necessary tools to get started,
- If you are looking to network with like-minded people all over the world and get real and live support,
- If you are looking to build a long-term and profitable affiliate marketing business and then promote big companies’ products like Amazon,
Then, you must try this program.
Not only it is 2 times cheaper than this one but it also offers you value for your money.
In fact, your premium membership gives you:
- Access to over 120 training lessons that cover all topics in affiliate marketing,
- Access to over 1000s webinars reply,
- Access to a weekly webinar,
- access to premium hosting for your websites (create and host up to 10 websites),
- Access to a premium keyword research tool,
- 1-on-1 coaching and mentoring and more.
Another similar program is this one. This program is for newbies and advanced affiliate marketers who are looking to scale their business with advanced strategies.
My HBA review’s FAQ
Is the Home Business Academy a Pyramid Scheme?
The straightforward answer is no. Because a Pyramid scheme is based on recruiting people and not selling retail products. However, The HBA offers retail products members can sell and then make money.
Is the HBA an MLM company?
The HBA is not an MLM company per se. But it is a pay-to-play business model and not too far from being an MLM company. In fact, in order to make money from the HBA, you need to be a customer – keep paying your monthly $125 fee.
Does the Home Business Academy offer a refund?
Yes, the Home Business Academy offers a 3 days refund policy. Actually, you qualify for a refund if you claim it within the first 3 days of your purchase. Only, they will charge you a refund fee. You can read about their refund policy here.
The Home Business Academy Review: final thoughts
In these days and ages making money from the comfort of your home without quitting your couch is possible. And Affiliate marketing is one of the ways many entrepreneurs make money online by working from home. That is what the HBA taught throughout their online course.
That is a great idea and I agree, the HBA owners, Paul Hutchings & Mike Hobbs did a great job by designing this course to power people with the required skills to be successful in the industry.
However, I didn’t recommend this course to beginners because I found it overpriced compared to similar courses (if not better than this one) where you can get the same information (if not better) at a fraction of the cost.
I know what attracts most people and entices 99% of members to promote it is the 80% commission ($100 recurring commission they will make).
That is tempting. But weigh the pros and cons before venturing on this journey.
I don’t see any reason to join this program when I know I can get similar products and training courses at a fraction of the cost they charge and still make recurring commissions with other programs out there without the need of buying the product.
But if you think this program is worth your money, then go ahead and join it.
That being said, I hope you found my Home Business Academy review helpful.

Hey, Maurer
Glad to hear that.
Wishing you success.
Thank you for stopping by.
Hey Sebastion,
Thanks so much for taking the time to review our company and appreciate this thoughtful blog post.
You make some great points, and I’d like to respond to a few of them if that’s ok. At the end of the day, we’re all trying to help each other find the best information to make the best decisions for our lives and I appreciate this post for sure in that regard.
In regard to our Funnel Builder tool…
For $25 a month you get the builder itself which has unlimited pages and steps, our training academy and our community of support which is truly amazing. We also donate a portion of this to help feed starving kids via our charity. These are things that can be hard to quantify when comparing to a ‘free’ product, but that should be taken into consideration.
As you accurately pointed out, one of the high points of our company is that we do pay 80% commissions on product referrals. Many of our affiliates really appreciate this aspect and one of the big downsides to any ‘free tool’ no matter how good it is, is you can’t make money by promoting free.
Free can be good for sure, but it really just depends on what a person is looking to achieve from both a product standpoint as well as a business standpoint.
As far as the over priced assertion goes… I suppose that will depend on each person’s opinion. I’ve paid a LOT more money for some of the information we have in our products for sure, and since I helped create our products, and know what’s in them – I can share my personal opinion, and that is that our products are worth way more, in practical value than the cost – and in fact, this was one of our key goals when we created this company, and still is…
To always ‘deliver more in use value than we take from the market in cash value.’
Our 3 day refund policy is necessary because we pay commissions each week (this was a request of our affiliates because they wanted to get paid faster from the sales they made) and so we have to determine quickly whether or not a customer is a fit for what we have.
Additionally, from a success mindset standpoint, asking people to make a prompt decision as to whether or not they’re going to keep a product they bought, or ask for a refund after they’ve had the use and value of the product (especially digital) for long periods of time, seems to me to be reasonable.
As far as the hosting goes, it’s actually included with the $25 monthly cost for the builder. The only extra cost would be for a domain, if you want a branded professional domain to use – versus the free one you get with the builder. This cost is pretty nominal – somewhere around $10 a year, and also includes a professional email account and inbox with it.
I’ve never used the product you’re promoting – but I’ve seen it online for years and it has a great reputation so I’m sure it’s amazing. There’s plenty of room in the market for us all to have success and different things will appeal to different people.
Our vision is to help people be free as fast as possible and so part of the goal, is to help people earn as much principle centered income as possible, as fast as possible.
Principle centered means, in part, that the customer MUST receive equal or more value than the price they pay – so we do keep that in mind always as we’re creating and serving.
That being said it’s good to remember that if your goal is to make money, promoting something that is 2X less expensive will mean that you will also earn 2X less money and will take at least 2X more work (or time) to reach whatever income goal you have.
And that would be if the thing you’re promoting pays the same commission rate that we pay. If it pays less, then the numbers get bigger.
Not saying anyone is right or wrong here, just wanted to express some of our view on the topics you cover in your article.
Once again, thanks so much for taking the time to investigate and write up a great post and I wish you all the best in your continued journey to create success, freedom and impact in the world.
Sincerely,
Paul Hutchings
Hi, Paul
Thank you for stopping by and for this comment that seed light about your mission with your company.
Much appreciated as it will help my readers in their purchase decision making process.
As for me I value products or services I review based on what is offered and their price tag compared to similar products or services out there.
And what I recommend is what I believe will give my audience more value. Sure I am aware I cannot make money leading people to free tools. My audience first, the money follow for sure.
As you said it depends on the perspective we see it.
If the 80% commission and getting paid weekly is what one sees as value it is no brainer – mainly if the person can afford the cost.
As I know there are many products that also offer such a juicing commission as well. And for someone who are just starting out and on a budget a platform like Systeme.io is good starting point Systeme.io as he or she can leverage it to market those product and get paid a commission as well. Don’t you think?
So in my perspective I don’t see a way I can recommend your product or service over similar products like this out there. Apart the juicing commission as well.
Again thank you for stopping by.
Hey Sebastion,
Great thoughts and really appreciate your willingness to have an dialogue about it.
Once again, great post, you’re awesome and all the best to both of us!
